- Updated engine to Game Maker Studio.
- Stock particles stopped working for some reason so they are either absent or replaced by sprites.
- New control engine, adding xinput compatibility.
- World 6 introduced in 2.0 and the associated red key item removed from the game.
- World 6-exclusive costumes remain and have been distributed throughout the base game.
- MIDI format music updated to OGG courtesy of Zerethn.
- Sweeping level collision updates to make game run much more efficiently.
- Bramble hit boxes more lenient by 4 pixels on all sides.
- Checkpoint added to 4-5.
- You can now press [F2] to reset controls to keyboard defaults.
- You can now press [F3] to toggle screen size.
- Pause screen updated to now include a menu.
- All settings integrated into one settings menu.
- Added BGM and SFX volume settings.
- Added vsync toggle.
- Added option to disable down triggering yo-yo.
- Pressing 1 no longer pauses the game and a dedicated re-bindable pause button has been implemented.
- Achievement requirement for Sound Test removed.
- Some tiles re-colored to be a bit easier to look at.
- Menus can now be exited with the run button or escape.
- Player changes:
- Fixed hero stuttering a bit every time he landed on a solid object.
- Hero is no longer locked into his horizontal momentum in midair while attacking.
- Wall-kick hang frames down from 5 to 3.
- Wall-kicking while holding the run button allows you to kick off with your full run speed rather than having it kick in a second later.
- Added 4 frames of coyote physics, allowing the hero to jump in midair for a bit after leaving a platform.
- Added 3-frame buffers to jumping, wall-kicking and attacking.
- With jet pack equipped, moving upwards is now gradual instead of a bouncing motion.
- Enemy & mechanic changes:
- New graphics for coins, goal and V-Coins.
- V-Coin now awards 25 coins when picked up; 10 coins if already previously collected.
- Gray switch blocks can be hit again after 3 seconds, allowing you to hit them again without waiting the full ten seconds to try a gray block segment again.
- Fans have a new, much less resource-intensive wind effect.
- Moving platforms no longer get stopped by our hero and instead push him if he's in the way.
- Being pushed into a wall will now result in defeat.
- Velocity orbs regenerate in 3 seconds, down from 5.
- Fireball animation changed to no longer flash. Animates slower as well.
- Octo ink balls can now be destroyed with the yo-yo.
- Kilopress can be forced to fall with the yo-yo.
- Hatkumo always turns away from you when its spike takes damage now.
- Mizuontai HP down from 6 to 4.
- Flag added to Sanhana stopping it from firing off spikes more than once in a row.
- Wizard hits down from 10 to 8.
- Wizard can now be damaged by the yo-yo but it will only do half regular damage.
- Darkness phase 1 hits down from 8 to 6.
- New set of attacks added for the Darkness phase 1 to replace originals.
- Darkness phase 2 now closes its eye to telegraph laser attack.
- Fixed bug where having the yo-yo out while final scene starts would crash the game.
- Item changes:
- Chance of Lucky Chax Doll activating up from 10% to 12.5%.
- Fixed Lucky Chax Doll activating regardless of if you had the item or not.
- Lucky Chax Doll coins bonus now counts towards 'Easy Money'.
- Removed the 'Fleet Foot' item; movement bonus on map is now the default speed.
- Yellow key moved from world 5's shop to world 4; price reduced from 500 to 250 coins.
- Achievement changes:
- 'Running Man' achievement requirement down from 8 miles to 4 miles.
- 'Jumping Games' achievement requirement down from 6,000 jumps to 3,000.
- 'Easy Money' achievement requirement down from 2,500 coins to 2,000.
- Coins obtained from means other than physically obtaining a coin can now pop the achievement.
- 'Collector' achievement now takes the disguise kit into account.
- 'Master of Disguise' achievement now unlocks on the map, rather than the costume select screen.
